I’m a software developer with a keen interest on parallelisation and heterogeneous computing. As a C++ and Open-Source nerd, I am very excited by Intel’s first party support of SYCL through oneAPI.

“I won’t lie, I am a bit wary of DPCPP, that it might end up heading into the J++ sort of direction. So far, though, it looks like Intel has been honest in their use of SYCL which, to me is extremely exciting. To me SYCL, as a very pleasant to code in standard from Khronos is where heterogenous computing standard should be moving towards, but other vendors seem to be quite intent on pretending it doesn’t exist, which is tremendously disappointing. The oneAPI toolchain seems to be maturing very rapidly. I only wish I could have an Intel GPU on my own workstation to play with it more closely, but for the time being, I’m watching with great anticipation” – Jehferson Mello
